Dr. Rong Bai and Sophia Eisenberg Garcia presented at the Society for Social Work and Research Conference 2026. Dr. Bai delivered three oral presentations. Sophia Eisenberg Garcia presented a poster at the 2025 National Research Conference for the Prevention of Firearm Related Harms in Tempe, Arizona. Sophia presented on a scoping review stemming from her area statement which examined the relationship between community violence exposure and youth with emotional and behavioral disorders and disabilities in the United States.
Dr. Taylor, Dr. Bai, and Sophia Eisenberg presented as part of a symposium titled,聽Parenting Support for Mothers with High Exposure to Violence: Socio-Ecological Contexts Can Promote or Hinder Nurturing, Non-Violent Parenting, at SSWR 2025 in Seattle, Washington.
Dr. Taylor presented at the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, a leading organization comprised of professionals that work within the family court space, in June 2024 on Intimate Partner Violence: Unintended Consequences for Children.
Dr. Taylor, Dr. Fleckman, Dr. Bai, and Sophia Eisenberg presented as part of a panel titled,聽Primary Prevention of Child Physical Abuse: Understanding, Screening for, and Mitigating Risk at VPRC 2024 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.聽
Sophia presented findings from her systematic review,聽The Association between Community Violence Exposure (CVE) and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in Children and Adolescents in the US.

Dr. Rong Bai has been awarded a grant from the William T. Grant Foundation titled, "Does Permanent Supportive Housing Address Racial Disparity? Assessing the Long-term Impacts on Homeless Families with Children in Foster Care?"
Through this grant, Dr. Bai will examine the long-term impacts of Permanent Supportive Housing as it relates to child welfare involvement, educational outcomes, and housing stability, among other key outcomes. Dr. Bai will also examine if race moderates these relationships.
In April 2025, Sophia successfully defended her area statement鈥攁 key milestone in the BCSSW doctoral program. Her area statement, titled The Dynamic Relationship between Community Violence and Youth (Aged 0鈥�24) with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders and Disabilities in the United States, included a comprehensive scoping review examining existing literature on this complex topic.
