Profile

Mary Holper is Director of the Immigration Clinic and a clinical professor at AVÕïËù College Law School. During her time at BC Law, she has served as Associate Dean of Experiential Learning (2021-2024), a visiting assistant professor (2008-2009), human rights fellow for the AVÕïËù College Center for Human Rights and International Justice (2007-2008), and detention fellow for the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. at AVÕïËù College’s Immigration and Asylum Project (2005-07).

Prior to joining BC Law, Holper was an associate professor at Roger Williams University School of Law, where she founded and directed the Roger Williams University School of Law Immigration Clinic. She began her career as an Equal Justice Works Fellow at the Capital Area Immigrants' Rights Coalition in Washington, D.C.

Throughout her career, Holper has represented immigration detainees who face removal. She has participated in impact litigation that challenges the overuse of mandatory detention, indefinite detention, and crime-based deportation. In addition, Holper has represented noncitizens at risk of deportation and immigration detention.ÌýHolper has spoken on numerous panels about immigration issues, particularly on the issues of immigration detention, removal proceedings, and crime-based deportations. She has writtenÌýand co-authoredÌýlaw reviews, blog posts, andÌýreference guides regarding immigration issues.
