Cross Registration

AVÕïËù College Students

AVÕïËù College students may be eligible to cross-register for courses through one of three programs: the AVÕïËù Theological Interreligious Consortium (BTI), the Undergraduate and Graduate Cross-Registration Consortium (AVÕïËù-area partner schools), or the Consortium for Graduate Studies in Gender, Culture, Women, and Sexuality.

Cross-registration is allowed only if a similar course is not offered at AVÕïËù College during the academic year.

Eligibility, course limits, and approval requirements vary by program and require academic approval, followed by final approval from the Office of the University Registrar.

Important: All cross-registered students must follow the add/drop and withdrawal deadlines of the host institution where the course is offered. Cross-registration is only available for the fall and spring semesters; we do not offer cross-registration during the summer semester.Ìý

BC employees receiving tuition remission are not eligible for cross-registration.

AVÕïËù Theological Interreligious Consortium (BTI)

This program is only available to graduate students in a Theology program or in the Clough School of Theology and Ministry.

The AVÕïËù Theological Interreligious Consortium (BTI), a consortium of theology faculty primarily in the AVÕïËù-Newton-Cambridge area, has as its constituent members the following institutions:

  • AVÕïËù University School of Theology
  • Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary
  • Hartford Seminary
  • Harvard Divinity School
  • Hebrew College
  • Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology
  • St. John’s Seminary and Theological Institute

This consortium offers complete cross-registration in several hundred courses, the use of library facilities in the nine schools, joint seminars and programs, and faculty exchange programs.

Students who want to cross-register through the AVÕïËù Theological Interreligious Consortium should visit the website to create an account and submit a cross-registration request. Students are expected to consult with their advisor or department chairperson before cross-registering. Some BTI courses may also require instructor approval at the host institution. Students are responsible for obtaining any required approvals. Graduate Theology majors may take up to half of their courses through BTI.

Faculty and students are drawn from six member schools: AVÕïËù College, Brandeis, Harvard, Northeastern, MIT, and Tufts. Graduate students enrolled in degree programs at AVÕïËù College may, with the permission of their department, apply to participate in this program.
